Ida, Ruth, and Mary were all imprisoned by the society they were born into and shameful family secrets that kept them confined to a world in which women were deemed chattel and liberation was a distant dream. Their prayers, in front of an enormous Oak Tree, unlock the chains of racism, sexism, and generational curses to birth a revolution of strong, powerful and courageous women ministry leaders that continues to exist today. The explosive debut novel of The Chronicles of Eden, begins with a murder, but ends with a life altering revival that lasts more than fifty years. Inspired by the triumphant struggles and victories of Christian's everywhere, The Prayer Circle is an inspirational celebration that is suspenseful, heartwarming, and a delight for the human soul! CEO and Attorney, Michelle D. Rhett

After watching "The Real Housewives", "Basketball Wives", "Hollywood Exes" and the worst of the worst "Love and Hip Hop", I went on a Facebook rant about "reality" TV. I swore off television and I asked my friends to recommend a good book. I asked for a book that was soulful with mystery and suspense. I wanted a book involving interesting people, women in particular doing something other than lying, cheating and sexing men. I wanted high drama, yet something inspiring and uplifting. I had already read everything by Alice Walker and Toni Morrison. I wanted to be introduced to a new author with a fresh and new approach to the plight of women. That's how I found "The Prayer Circle".When I Googled it and saw "Christian Fiction", I had no idea what to expect. I won't pretend you'll find me in church every Sunday or even every other Sunday. So the heathen in me wasn't really sold on "Christian Fiction", but I love to read so I gave it a try. I will give any book a chance by reading at least the first chapter. With this book, I only needed a few pages and I was hooked. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!!! I read late into the night and awoke early in the morning to read before work. I took a day off of work to relax and read this book. It is everything I asked for and more.
There are lots of characters, and everyone is important to the story. The author takes you on a rollercoaster ride with twist and turns, back and then forth to get you to the end. I became so enthralled in this book that I began re-reading parts because I didn't want it to end. I don't want to give away any details, but it's a must read. I feel like my soul has been rejuvenated and now I can truly say I understand and therefore, I believe in the power of prayer.

The Prayer Circle M D Rhett 9781597811323 Books Reviews
Ms. Rhett paints a wonderful portrait of Charleston and rural South Carolina in the pre- and post-Civil Rights era for African Americans. Her descriptions of small town life and the indignities endured by African Americans living during segregation, especially regarding land rights is spot on. The numerous characters and plot twists, however, make it difficult for the reader to follow the storyline.
